Cookies & Beyond: The Industry Playbook

Advertising identifiers may change yet DAA Principles still apply. There’s a new playbook for brands, publishers, agencies, and ad tech based in part on myriad innovations DAA has undertaken to support Consumer Control and Choice and in part continued consumer focus on addressing a key motivator for privacy concerns: “Why did I get this ad?” The power of the icon is hard at work on behalf of the interest-based advertising ecosystem. In this session, we lay out step-by-step the playbook to keep brands and consumers connected through relevance.

DSA COMPLIANCE & EDAA’S NEW PROTOCOL

The European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance has launched its Advanced Advertising Transparency Programme to help interest-based advertisers and the ad tech community achieve compliance with Article 26 of the European Union Digital Services Act (DSA). The initiative relies on the AdChoices icon, the Open RTB extension for DSA Transparency of IAB Europe and IAB Tech Lab, and third-party accountability partnering for independent auditing to keep the IBA ad ecosystem in step with policymaker and regulator expectations. We examine the EDAA program attributions and requirements and how to participate.

STATE LAWS: HEALTH, AI, DATA BROKERS & AD TAXES, OH MY!

While previous DAA Summits have focused attention on cross-comparing new state privacy law regimes, there’s no shortage of lawmaker attention on these and other aspects of advertising regulation. Health and location data, artificial intelligence and machine learning, registration of data brokers and the ugly specter of ad and data taxes are all in the legal wheelhouse. We take the nation’s statehouse temperature—both hot and hotter.
